1940s Plaid Wool Princess Coat, Magenta, Navy Blue, Forest Green, Black

  

NOTE: Some photos have been lightened to show detail. The skirt, sweater and purse are not included and not for sale. There are many things I really like about this 1940s coat but perhaps the one that isn't obvious is the weight. Whilst this is a thicker winter coat, it is not super heavy.

The other thing that drew me to this coat is the colours in the plaid. They include magenta, black, navy blue and forest green. That means this coat goes with quite lot.

It will work over black or blue items, green and then there is the pink. This would cover all your cooler tones and then a brown, camel or burgundy coat would cover all your warmer tones. Shaped being fitted through the top with a flared skirt. The shape means it can be casual or dressy. It buttons all the way to the neck and has a small collar.

It has pockets with large cuffs to them. The sleeves have folded back notched cuffs. It is completely lined in a forest green crepe.

It has no label but does have the union made labels. It is shown on Elsa who measures 33.5 - 25.5 - 33.5. Keep in mind this is a winter coat. It has been measured on the outside so will be a bit smaller than that on the inside and you may want to wear layers underneath. It has not been clipped to Elsa at all so can work for smaller sizes depending on how you like your fit.

The shoulders are 16 inches wide and the length down the centre back is 40 inches. This is in excellent condition. The lining is intact and clean with no marks. It has been recently dry-cleaned. The exterior is great with no signs of moth damage or marks. There is one faint mark on the right chest which looks like it may be a bit of brooch damage. I cannot tell if it has been repaired or that is how it is. It is hard to make out and does blend in the pattern well.

Overall, this is just a great coat that will work with a lot but has enough colour to make it stand out a bit. Nice to find one in such great shape too.
